Hey Fellas,
Today’s newsletter is an interesting one. We are going to take a quick look at some of the cliche questions asked in the interview. If you are in search of a job and appearing for multiple interviews then chances are you must have gotten tired of answering the same old boring questions.
But here is the thing, if you can formalize your answers then you won’t have to think twice before spouting the answers and getting these regular questions out of your way so that you can focus on the more serious ones.
Ok then! Let’s begin….
Cracking the 5 most common Interview Questions
Question 1: Tell me about yourself
Some recruiters will state the points that they want you to cover and others will simply leave it up to you to answer the best way you can. Do not go for big, heavy words rather keep it simple and informative. You can frame a structure in your mind of the information that you would like to share and then go with the flow while you face the interviewer. Talk about your past, i.e education, and work experience. Give some information about your current situation/employment and mention your future goals that align with the role you are applying for.
Question 2: What are your biggest weaknesses?
Your weakness cannot be very far from reality. It has to be derived from your actual weakness but has to be polished and presented well. Do not mention your weaknesses and leave it hanging. Take the liberty of explaining the plan of action you are undertaking to work on your weaknesses.
Question 3: Why do you want to switch your job?
Lay down the facts. Tell the truth. A background check will anyway be conducted and the truth WILL get revealed. Admission of facts does less damage than being discovered as a liar. Laying down facts does not mean that it has to be on the face. Use your communication skill to present in an appealing manner.
Question 4: Why should we hire you?
Begin by telling why you are keen to work for this company. Continue by highlighting your skill sets that are in line with the job requirements. Acknowledge that you do lack in certain areas and then direct the focus on how you can make up for that.
Question 5: Where do you see yourself in five/ten years?
Before I write about the points to mention in the answer let me tell what you should NOT be your answer:
Wrong Answer 1 - I see myself as the CEO of this company.❌
It is good to be funny but your interview is not the time or place for this.
Wrong Answer 2 - I am not sure. Maybe I will pursue my hobby. ❌
This is the wrong answer for obvious reasons. Shows a lack of sincerity and a fickle mind.
You must know the career path that you are embarking on. Mention the things that you wish to learn within five years in order to achieve your goal.
